What makes the list

These are the ten highest public auction results we found from 23 August 2024 through 23 August 2026. We use the final price paid, including buyer's premium when the auction house includes it.

Each result is matched to the exact card, parallel, serial number and grade. Listings and private deals stay out so collectors can compare real, visible sales.

Collector shortcut: match the serial number, autograph and grade before using any sale as a comp.

What collectors are paying for

Eight cards are 1/1s. The other two are Orange autographs numbered to five. Eight are signed; the Curry–Messi and Curry–LeBron–Durant Gold 1/1s are the only unsigned cards.

Curry appears on five cards worth $848,097 combined, making him the clear anchor of this market. The $518,500 leader pulls the average to $152,712; the median is $82,430.

  • Eight 1/1s · $1,386,817 combined
  • Eight autographs · two unsigned Gold 1/1s
  • Curry appears on five records · 56% of the total
04

Why the base card is different

Curry #27 had 89,838 base copies. Ohtani #722 had 653,737. Those numbers do not describe the Gold 1/1s, Orange /5s or inscribed autographs above.

The base print run measures how widely the moment was distributed. The serial and autograph define the object that sold. A record price for a 1/1 says little about the value of a raw base card.

Treat a 1/1 sale as a signal about the chase card, not the raw base.
05

What this means for collectors

The largest prices share four traits: a global athlete, an instantly recognizable moment, a hard serial number and an auction venue that reaches serious buyers.

Use them as market landmarks, not automatic prices for nearby parallels. Curry Gold Auto #22 is included as a reported public sale; because the original lot is no longer available, treat its $79,460 result with extra caution.

Before buying, match the exact card and add seller quality, fees, condition and realistic buyer depth.
